In the Philippines, the top 12 senators of every term election (both midterm—in the middle of the presidential term, and during the national/presidential elections) are elected. This is based on a direct popular vote, with 12 of the senators with the most votes winning the 12 seats.

The University Predicted Grade (UPG) is the UP System’s estimate on one’s academic performance once they are enrolled in UP. Those with the highest UPGs for their selected programs are admitted.

Currently, the UP College Admissions Test, a nationally-administered examination, accounts for 60% of the UPG. Another 40% comes from High School Grades, and small, undisclosed “weights” (small increases/decreases in UPG) are added based on your residency (those from the province are “weighted” positively for UPD, etc.).
