Hate speech laws are regulations that prohibit speech, gestures, conduct, writing, or displays that incite violence, hatred, or discrimination against individuals or groups based on attributes such as race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics.

Identity politics refers to the practice and advocacy of organizing political activities, policies, and movements around the shared experiences and concerns of specific social groups, typically defined by characteristics such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or other identity markers. This approach seeks to address and rectify inequalities, discrimination, and injustices faced by these groups by highlighting their unique perspectives and needs within the broader political and social landscape

Flash movements involve quick mobilizations of many people for morally clear demands, often using social media. Examples include recent pro-Palestine protests, Black Lives Matter, Gilets Jaunes in France, and Occupy Wall Street. Unlike traditional movements with leaders and established goals, flash movements emphasize rapid, decentralized action.

The University Predicted Grade (UPG) is the UP System’s estimate on one’s academic performance once they are enrolled in UP. Those with the highest UPGs for their selected programs are admitted.

Currently, the UP College Admissions Test, a nationally-administered examination, accounts for 60% of the UPG. Another 40% comes from High School Grades, and small, undisclosed “weights” (small increases/decreases in UPG) are added based on your residency (those from the province are “weighted” positively for UPD, etc.).
